Why this book, why now, why from Nepal

I grew up navigating questions of worth long before AI made them universal. Poverty teaches you early: your value is conditional, your existence needs justification, your output is the only thing that earns your place. When AI started replicating that output (writing, analysis, code), the crisis it triggered in others was a crisis I'd already lived through. That's not a disadvantage. That's a head start on the question everyone else is just now learning to ask.The conversation about AI and human identity is happening almost entirely inside the countries that built these systems. Silicon Valley asks "how do we align AI?" Kathmandu asks "what happens to the doctor who spent twelve years becoming one?" These are not the same question. I do this from Kathmandu because the perspective matters. Not because distance gives objectivity, but because it gives a different set of defaults to question.
